Hi;
This is my question: What happened when you Request validation of the debt to a debt collector because you receive a letter from them and then you receive a letter from the original creditor saying that an investigation was completed in response to your inquiry regarding your credit card account and that they determined that the account balance is accurate and you need to make a payment inmediately and at the end of the letter says that the account is owned by the credit card bank.
Thanks a lot for all the help you can provide. i am really trying to help my husband with his credit situation.

They did not send you proper validation they need to send you a copy of the original contract signed by your husband.

Is this in JUST your husband name, or, both of you AND you husband? Maybe that's something I missed, when I read the post. DEBRA is right,..if this debt is your husband's, they need to send a Validation in HIS name.
Hello and welcome. It would appear your credit card company actually hired a collection company on their behalf to collect the debt. I am not positive if the original creditor has got to provide the contract as validation. I do know that any collector that has bought a debt has to. If the do have to provide validation then I would day they have to show you the original signed contract.
Some companies have collection agencies as part of their company it self, they will subcontract all their collection accounts out to them, it is done through a contract, they actually operate very smoothly for the original creditor. As soon as you get behind the collection activity begins.
Good answer good natured. I forgot to mention that point. I kn ow that is how a lot of medical facilites do their business. Some will even turn you over to their collection dept if you do not fully pay a bill by a 30 day time period. I was always told as long as you were making 10 dollar payments they could not but some of the ones around here do.
There you go, pay something so that you are not turned over to collections.

OH..yea!! I had an outstanding medical Bill that i was paying $15.00 on. I actually had a CA call, about this bill, and tell me that paying $15.00 per month wasn't "good enough for them." WHAT!!?? First of all, I called the Billing department, at the Hospital and they said my account was never turned over to a CA, because I was making payments on it every month. How in the world did this CA get my info, on this certain account?!
