My husband has a credit score of about 580.I am trying to get it raised,We have been making payments on a car(on time) for almost a year and I just got a Millenium secured credit card and I hired a professional to help get some of the negatives(medical bills) off of his credit. Is there anything else I can do? How long will it take to see a difference in his score? We want to buy a house in a year!
Hello and welcome, It takes time to raise a score. It foes not happen over night. If there are a lot of outstanding debt like the medical you mentioned, then the older the debts get and when they eventually fall off will finally give your score a boost. What does the professional give you for advise? Did they sit with you and tour husband and review the whole credit report? Sometimes wrong listings can make their way to your credit report and just by cleaning up the report you could gain some points.
HI,
It is good to know that you are already on your way to raise your credit score. You are doing well. Just make the payments towards your car properly. Pull your credit report and check if there is any inaccurate listing or an old charge-off, if these are there, then get them removed. You can apply for gas/store cards and can also become member of a credit union. These would help you to raise your score.
There is no fixed time for your credit sore to get a raise. You have to wait for sometime to see the changes.
