First I would get a copy of your credit report and make sure everything on there is reported correctly. If you have negative debts you are trying to pay off make sure the SOL in your state hasn't past and if it has don't pay anything on those because if you do it will start the SOL all over again. The ones that are still in the SOL you can send pay for delete letters to them stating you will pay a certain amount if they will agree to delete the negative listing from your credit report. Make sure to send the letter certified with receipt so you have proof they got it and plus if they agree to delete it you also have proof.
