I have been charged for an item that I never receieved. It has been more than three years now. Everytime I try to inquire or resolve the problem it gets sold to another debt collector. They have asked me for proof on an item that I have never receieved. The history is that I purchased a Projector and did not meet my performance criteria and then returned it and receieved a credit and then the factory was supposed to send a better performing unit which was never received. I did not receive any statements for more than one year and when I did there was not proof that it was ever shipped out. It was then sold to the first debt collector of which I am now on number eight.
Hi Gustav,
Send a debt validation letter to the collection agency. Let them prove that you owe the debt and they are authorized to collect the debt from you. Wait till they validate debt. Do not make any payment in between. Do you have a proof of the transaction you made with the projector dealer? If, unfortunately the CA sues you, then you will be able to prove that you had returned the device and that they did not send you any after that.
I would check with whoever you had to ship it back to them. If you don't have proof. They should have a record of it. But make sure to send the debt validation letter. I would also ask for proof that they sent you another one.
