Can a collection agency pull your credit without your permission?

Hi debranewell,

Yes, unfortunately a creditor or collection agency has the right to pull your credit report. They have the right because you owe the debt to either of them. However, having said that, not every collection agency is permitted to check your credit report. The agencies have to become members of the respective credit bureaus to have access to your credit report. This kind of inquiry is normally listed as "account review inquiry" and does not hit your credit score badly.

Hi Debra, A hard inquiry does stay on for a bit of time but it looks as if you have really been working hard at getting your credit report fixed. Now keep pulling it every three months using your free pulls through the credit bureaus. Watch for any mistakes and if you find any start fixing them as soon as possible. This includes any information that may not be listed correctly (names or other data). Its best to stay on top of it. Letting time go by can an errors accumulate can really make credit repair a nightmare for a person.
