Sara, Although I do not know any books personally you could go yo a book store and ask them to lead you in the right direction. Credit repair has really become a big thing and I would imagine the information available would be endless.
Also this site is really an excedllent resource. Here all you have to do is list some of the things that are of concern on your report and a real person will help lead you to the direction in fixing it. They even will help step by step. This is how I ended up here. If you would like some assistance list some of the negative items and we can try to help you work through them.

I believe that the government and several non profits distribute this information at no cost to consumers that are trying to get out of debt.
You can get in the phone book and call a few in your area, I am sure they have them available for consumers, you would just have to do a little research in your area.
I know around here the local housing authority, community actions and even banks have them available. Nose around town a little bit, I am sure that resource is available somewhere. or try google and becareful of scam artists.
