I have a debt in New Zealand that I deafaulted on - theyve tracked me to Australia and are using an australian company to recollect the funds.

The funds will be paid off asap, as the amount is small, only $NZ900, this is not the issue.

The NZ bank told the Australian collection agency that they have defaulted this on my credit file, and will remain for 5 years, and when paid, will note PAID IN FULL.

If they have done this in NZ, i do not care, I havent lived there for over 5 years and will not return for at least 10 years to come.

My only concern that is they would have noted this on my Australian credit file, which is very strong, and of huge financial impolrtance to me.

Can they do this? Or will they simply default on my New Zealand file?

I would really appreciate your knowledgable answers.

Yes I think so.

With Information technology & Internet every thign is local.

Lot of the banks are doing business in multiple countires and they would want to get thier money back
