I filed CHapter 7 in June. THere was a case pending at the time. I included that case in my filing and I sent copies of the filing to the court where the case had been filed, to the law firm that filed the case and to the original creditor. Today I received a notice of garnishment from my employer.

What should I do? I cannot afford a lawyer, but I have been through the meeting of creditors and no one challenged my filing. Do I send a copy to my em[ployer to stop the garnishment? Do I call the court that issued the gasrnishment? Do I sue the creditor?

Hi kathy

First I think you should send in a motion to vacate the judgment. You can do this if you think you haven't been judged fairly. Having done this you could then need to send the notice of bankruptcy to the Creditor and the sheriff's office or the clerk who is responsible. You could also send a motion for Violation of the Automatic Stay. I think you should consult an attorney in doing all of this.
