I new to the forum and I need help in removing negatives Items from my credit report.
In 1994 I left the US to a foreign country and kept making payment on my credit cards, in 1999 i got in financial troubles, so i closed payoff most of my credit cards with the exception of two that I defaulted on. I recently checked my credit report and the accounts that I closed are showing as account closed by consumer, the two that i defaulted on are showing: Charged off as bad debt phurchased by another lender, and onel from NCO FIN/22: placed for collection.
Since I was out of the US I never received any mail from any of them. My credit score is 653 rated as fair. I need to improved this for I need help.

If the SOL is not over you could pay off the debt. IMO, contact the original creditor and try and settle the debt with him. A charge off is not a good thing to happen to your credit report. However, you could try to improve it by settling the charge off.
miamga, What is the SOL for your state? If you do not know we can help you figure out that part. Also we would need to know when the last payment on this debt was. By looking at your date of 1999 it seems that these debts should have fallen off your credit report by now. Debts only stay on for 7 years, which would have been 2006. If they are past the seven years you should dispute the markings with the bureaus and get them removed.

thanks for all the answers....it's been well over 7 years since I made the last payment, but my credit report it's showing otherwise. I live in the state of Florida and have no idea what the SOL is...
