Can I get approved for a small loan anywhere?

I'm 19yrs old, I have bad credit and I'm in some debt and I would like to know if there is anywhere I could get approved for a small loan of around $1000?

Maybe a prosper loan if your credit score is above 520, or maybe a credit union.

Be sure to stay away from payday loans-they are designed to bleed you dry.

I've HEARD of Prosper, but, never tried to use them. Are they 'designed' for low credit scores, etc? Are they legit?

Thanks for the tip about the payday loans I was actually looking into them. I'm just in desperate need of the money to pay a few things and get back on my feet and get another job. It just seems there is no help for a teenager in this kind of situation.

brada, you are welcome. If you are unable to get a loan from a credit union, are your parents an option?

sd, Prosper is legit; you just need to be able to put together a good proposal and have a minimum score of 520...better scores are easier to get approved for, and are subject to lower interest rates.

Brada try a credit union. Payday loan can kill you thats for sure.

Morningstar.......how does ' Prosper' work?? Do you fill an application on line? Is this a bank, etc?

People come together to fund loans (for example, 100 people each fund $50 to make a $5,000 loan)--It is not a bank.

You must put a proposal together; there are prosper forums you can seek advice from.

Oh..I get it. Sometimes when things are a bit tight with me, I think to myself, " Should I get a small loan, to pay off 'small' debts?". Ya know, if I get a loan from someone, that would be just ANOTHER debt, i would have to pay back. Thanks for the info, Morningstar.

Your gonna need descent credit and an income that shows you will be an acceptable risk for the fianancing company(bank). I wouldnt trust payday loans though they seem to be phishing sites and paydays in person charge an exuberated amount of interest.
