Put your question here ...I would like to know how this company can send threatening letter on a debt that is not a debt created by me. The debt was a Sears debt that I did not sign for and they keep harassing me for the monies, which I did not create. They are always calling, what can I do to stop this harassment.
You are not liable to pay them the money if they have not send you a debt validation notice within 5 days from the date of initial communication. However, if they still disturb you for the debt, I think that you should immediately file a complaint against them with the Federal Trade Commission. Filing complaint with FTC is very much effective in such cases.
Hi Maggie
I think that if they harass you again for the debt, you should send a cease and desist letter to the creditor. C and D letter is a legal letter which will stop them from harassing you. I think that you should also check whether the creditor has listed the debt in your credit report or not. If they have listed it in your report, you should also dispute the debt with the bureaus.
