As far as I know, just being late for a few days would not affect your credit score much if you pay it back with late fees. But if you are late for 30 days or more, it may adversely affect your credit score and your score may fall by as much as 50 to 100 points.
i called my mortgage company and they informed me that they do not report to the credit bureu until you are 30 days late, most banks are the same, but call to be sure
Got a call from Wells Fargo today. They are asking for payment. They mentioned late fees. I am awaiting loan modification. They asked if I can pay $500 (mortgage payment is $1,019) I am at 7%, unemployed, no health insurance, husband is 76 and is a part time cashier at supermarket. I told them that a loan modification would help me enormously. What is their problem. I would love to get employment.
Generally lenders tend to work out when it gets impossible for you to make payments. It is always better for them to get atleast some money. Did not they agree to a loan modification? I think you should send them a loan modification letter through certified mail, requesting a return receipt.
I recently tried to get a loan modification through GMAC, I took the loan out in Nov. 2011. During my tax preparation, I noticed that I would have to lower my exemptions due to a child graduating from high school, Bush tax breaks expiring, and that my income would be slight lowered by about $300.00 a month. After a month and starting to struggle; their response was (basically) you have not been struggling long enough. What is going on in AMERICA with our banking system. Personally, I can afford my mortgage if was amorized at 25 or 30 yrs vise 15. Any help out there, I am a 12 yr VET USAF.
