sent out pay to delete letter on a old medical bill and the CA responded with a release of claim letter and a amount that is due is that how this works to get account deleted ?

First you should send a debt validation letter to check whether the collection agency who claims your medical debt actually owns it or not. If they own the debt, they must provide you with a copy of the original signed contract between you and the OC, and the proof that they have purchased the debt from the OC. The collection agency must provide you with a proper validation of the debt within 30 days from the date of receipt of the letter, else you are not required to pay them off. Only if you get a proper validation of the debt, you can come PFD agreement so that as soon as you pay off the debt, the negative item gets removed from your report.

do not forget that CA should remove the history from credit report.Remark by OC will not get removed immediately. But you must validate beforehand that CA is having the proof towards the debt validation.

After validation only you pay for the debt.

If the collection agency properly validates the debt, you may send a PFD letter. Now, it depends on the CA whether he will agree to pay for deletion or not. If the collection agency agrees to pay for deletion agreement, you can get it in writing, so that as soon as you pay off the debt, the negative item gets removed from your report. However, if they do not agree to PFD, I think that you should pay it off in order to avoid any future judgment. Moreover, a PFD agreement with the CA will only remove the CA listing and not the OC listing.
