combining hsbc cards

I am on a CR repair job. I will appreciate help on a confusion I have
here...I have 3 credit cards from HSBC, one of which was closed in
2004. The rest two are still open. I am trying to get rid of 60 day
late reporing on the the one that was closed. I was 60 day late in
Feb 2005. I have sent dispute letters to all the CRA's and still
waiting for the outcome. I am wondering, if it would make sense to
call the HSBC customer service and try reaging the closed account or
combining all the 3 together to get rid of the lates. The account
that is closed is a very old tradeline, since 2001 and I really do
not want to say "Not Mine" or would it make sense to get rid of it
from the CR? Would that bring my FICO down? Anybody has any thoughts
or had success combining HSBC accounts.

1) Direct Merchants Bank by HSBC
Date Open: Dec 2001
Status: Closed
Balance: $1800.00
Never late since 2005 Feb

2) Best Buy Reward Zone by HSBC
Date Open: Nov 2006
Status: Open
Balance: $300.00
Never Late

3) Orchard Bank by HSBC
Date Open: June 2005
Status: Open
Balance: $60.00
Never Late

What is the right plan of action:

1) Dispute the 60 day late on the closed account and pay it off and
keep it on the report
2) Try combining all the accounts and get rid of the lates in the
process if CSR agrees.

Or anything else that you guys can think of that may work..

With either of the actions above how will my FICO be affected?

Please suggest...

Thanks!

I like your thoughts on getting the lender to reage the debt, they may be willing because you still have the two open accounts in good standing. Call them and see what they suggest, they may know of another way since they are directly involved and have some control over what happens here. Goodluck and let us know your out come.

I would imagine your score would have to raise if you got things taken care of. Like I tell everyone it never hurts to try. You can pnly help yourself.

As far as I know, late payments stay in your credit report for two years from the date it got reported in your report. Now, since the account was closed in 2004, the late payment should have been removed from your report by now. However, closed account cannot be re-aged but the late payment can be removed from your report. Can you tell us your FICO score, so that we can help you out?

If your account is closed in 2001, it should not affect your credit score as seven years have already passed and the item must have got removed from your credit report. However, since you have two accounts in good standing, and accounts are still open, you can pay them off.
You can try to combine the three accounts and remove the late mark from one of the report, but I don't think that they will agree to it.
