I need to write a Validation letter to NCO Financial, but on my credit report they do not list any information except thier name NCO, and the amount. Can I still write a letter even If i have nothing to refer to, such as an account number or reference number? can they still pull up information on this debt with just my name and address? What information should I include If i dont have that much information from my credit report to refer to? Will this just get tossed aside and be a waste of time? Or if they cannot validate or respond within a certain time, i can go to the bureus and they will take it off solely because they didnt respond on time? Im not sure how it works, any tips?
You should first send a letter to the credit bureaus by certified mail for details about their account number. After they have provided you with the account number details, you can send a debt validation letter to the collection agency by certified mail. The Federal credit reporting act requires the bureaus to provide you with the details of the creditors and the collection agencies who gets listed in your report against any particular debt. If they do not provide you with detailed information, you can report against them to the FTC.
I always thought that if a debt was listed on a report it had to have the name, telephone and address of the person reporting the debt. How do the listings end up on a persons report if they are not complete?
