A few fridays ago I got a call from a processor she said that if I did not call this number back that they were going to sue me. She could not give me anymore information on the debt.
so I call the number and the lady told me about the debt and set up a payment arrangement of two payments of $477. I noticed that I did not get the account number from her. I called back. No one knew her name, she sold me a line of crap. The person that I spoke to would not give me any information at all. After about 4 phone calls I got my account number. At one point I was put on the phone with a very rude supervisor. I was so pissed off, I went home and filed a complaint with the attorney generals office.
Monday morning I had a message on my machine from the owner of the company. He got the complaint, went on about how they do not operate their company like that and don't appreciate how I was treated. Please call him back.
I did, he apologized to me and forgave the last payment of $477, faxed me a paid in full letter immediately.
the attorney generals office will work for you, use them. I gave a very detailed complaint, get names and numbers and make sure that you give them enough information to fight for you.
This payment was to come out on 12/15, pay day before christmas, this was a really nice surprise.
That call would have gotten my blood boiling. They have to tell you more info on the debt so she had no right to blow you off. This is why these places do not see a good return on debt payments. Now are you sure they will not automatically take this payment out even though you got that letter? You did not set it up to come out of your account automatically right? I think them forgiving the last payment was the right thing to do. You could of very well had them on quite a few violations.
credit
I would have been SOOOOO mad if someone treated me that way. You should have gotten your account number and the information you needed right away. I hate when people are rude.....especially if you're trying to be resonsible for a debt that you may have. GOOD for you for being persistant!! Glad everthing worked out for you.
Thats why it is very important to make sure you get the names and numbers of the people you talk to. By doing this you have got some ammo when calling the atty generals office. If you were to call and say "this company's workers are harrassing me" they may ask you for that information. If you have it thats a great way to get things taking care of. Its even better when you have a couple names and phone calls because this shows that the comapny is hiring people whom do not follow the fair debt collection act rules. Next time a collector calls..ask the person you are speaking to for their name. This way if the conversation gets heated later you will not have them hang up with out getting their name.
