I agree with you Carol. If you want to repair your credit card debts by yourself, you should first pull out your credit report to find out the list of creditors to whom you owe the debt. Send them a debt validation letter by certified mail and wait for 30 days for their response. If they properly validate your debt, you can come to a repayment agreement with them and may also negotiate for pay for deletion. PFD will help you to remove the negative listing from your credit report once you pay off the debt in full. However, if the credit card company has not yet reported the debt to the bureaus or has not sold off the debt to the collection agency, you should directly contact the credit card company and negotiate for a repayment plan with them.

PFD is pay for deletion agreement. If you have any outstanding debt which is listed as negative in your credit report and you are willing to pay it off, then you should first go for a pay for deletion agreement with the creditor. If the creditor agrees for PFD, then the negative listing will go out from your credit report as soon as you pay off the debt and your credit score will increase. However, you should always get the pay for deletion agreement in writing.
