It is very hard to get negatives items off your report, you will need to request a copy of your report and then figure out who is reporting it. Once you do, you can then figure out who has the bill and request debt validation. Once they do not provide that, you can then dispute it and try to have it removed.
You must send these validations via certified mail, return reciept requested, that way you will have proof that somebody from that company signed them and that they were received. You will need to send a copy of all of this along with your dispute. goodluck and keep us updated please.
Hi shaveta
First of all welcome to this forum.
Normally negative listings like credit card debts and other debts stay in your credit report for seven years and cannot be removed if the listing is correct. There are certain listings like bankruptcy which may remain in your credit report for ten years. But, you can try and remove negative listings if you can afford to pay back the debt in full. However certain listings such as charge off and bankruptcies cannot be removed even if you pay off the debt in full.
Yes, there are some listing such as hard inquiry which may remain in your credit report for two years. Hard inquiries in your credit report are made whenever you apply for a new line of credit. Now you can remove the hard inquiry listing from your credit report if has not been authorized by you. For this you need to send a letter to the inquirer asking them to verify your authorization or remove the listing. Again if you find a debt listing which you think you do not owe, you can send a debt validation letter to the collection agency or the creditor as the case may be and if they do not validate the debt within 30 days from the date of receipt of your letter, you can send dispute letters to the credit bureaus asking them to remove the listing. However, if they validate the debt, you may go for a repayment agreement and can negotiate with them for pay for deletion. Once they agree for pay for deletion, you get it in writing before paying off the debt.
Nice blog you have here. I pretty much lurk the internet when I'm bored and read all I can about the organic lifestyle, but I really liked you view on things. I'll bookmark the site and subscribe to the feed!
I need to start keeping up my Blog again. Just ALOT going on.....I haven't been writing in it 'religiously'. Talking about CR's. Ok..here's a question ( i think I asked this once before). The SOL on, on past debts, in PA is 4 years. Now.........even if the SOL is 4 years, can the debts stay on your CR for 7 years? That hardly seems fair.
Hi shaveta
Although negative listings stay on your credit report for seven years, most of these listings can be removed through pay for deletion agreement with the creditor or the collection agency to whom the debt has been sold. However, charge off listing, and judgments can never be removed from the credit report and it stays there for seven years. For removing the negative listings from your report, you need to pull out your credit report, send debt validation letters to the CAs whose name appears in the report against the debt and on getting validation ask for pay for deletion agreement. If they agree for PFD, get it in writing, so that as soon as you pay off the debt, the negative listings goes out of your credit report.
I do not even respond to gibberish GN. You can ask for pay for delete. This only removes the debt collector (if that is who holds the account) not the orignal creditor..unless the original creditor still holds the debt.
I know I do not see why so many have to list it. Once the original creditor sells it they should not be able to list it. The only thing that would be bad in the aspect though is you wouldn't have info like last payment you made and so on...okay maybe it is good that they ae still on there.
