CA not reporting payments

I am paying off a CA for 3 months for a Capitol charge-off
Aren't they supposed to be reporting this to CRAs?
They aren't.
Can I threaten them to stop payments till they report?
Has Capitol washed their hands of me now; or could I go back to them?

I have never had one report payments for me when paying them, The original credit card company probably won't deal with you now.

If Capital one has sold your charged off account to another company they have nothing to do with your accoutn anymore. I would say the chances of getting another card with them are slim.

As far as your agreement with your CA have they reported anything to the CRAs over the past 3 months? Also do you have a written agreement? Sometimes they wait until a few payments are made to list improvements on your CR. You nreally dont want to stop payments b/c they could sue you. I would call them and inquire into why they have not updated your account.

I was making payments to a CA, from an account that was 'sold' to them. I thought as soon as you start making payments, they are suppose to 'update' your CR. Well..........the CA wasn't. That was my understanding with them when I wanted to make this debt 'good'. About 3 payments later, the CA told me they don't update CR's until the debt is paid. NOW.......I have TWO inquiries ( Cash Call and this CA) on my CR for the same debt.

No...it wasn't written. ALL 'agreements' were made over the phone. Also.....everyitme I call, the 'rep keeps telling me that I need to speake to a " certain person." This 'certain person' doesn't seem to be there a lot. I get transfered to the 'persons' ext., but, I'm always getting the voicemail. yep..I leave messages. Very rarely do I get a call back.

I would send that certain person a letter asking fot them to put your arrangement in writing

That would be very wise to do. Usually from what I have come to understand that most wait until the debt is fully paid and then update. Getting something in witing is going to be your best route. CMBV once a debt is paid don't they have to at least update it and show it was paid?

Nope and the they don't really like to work with you either. Cmbv is really right on this one I would definatley get the arrangement in writing. I don't feel as if it is that much to ask for if they want to work with you.

Did you have an agreement with them to report payments, I am not sure that this is common practice unless you get it in writing from them?

Hi sdchargers
I would also suggest you to get the pay for deletion agreement in writing first before making any further payment. This is because even if you pay back your debt in full, they may not remove the listing from your report and you will have no proof to send to the credit bureaus to make them delete the listing.

good catch here sdchargers, now would be a good time to negotiate the pay for delete.

Its a shame that any time you pay a past account they just don't delete it. If you work hard and are not in the habit of collecting a lot of debt why should it be such a pain to get removed?
