We were paying $300.00 a month to a debt collector on a outstanding credit card bill. We got behind for Dec 2010 and Jan. 2011, we were going to pay the $600.00 today (my husband just got paid today), but just found out they got a judgement (according to the bank) to freeze our account till Feb. 14th. They have already taken out $1,149.00 which is far more then we owed them in back payments.
My question is, the "collector" said that they can not do anything to unfreeze the account till Feb. 14th, is this true? Can "we" do anything through an attorney do you think to get this lifted since they have their "back money"?
My other question/s is....... can we file our tax return with H&R Block and go with a RAC Emerald Card Refund since we cant use the checking account that is froze for a regular direct deposit refund? They cant keep us from our tax refund that way, can they? We want to do this so we can pay utilities and keep a roof over our heads.
