I received a summons in the mail from a third party debt collector. The summons was sent first class mail. The date on the summons was January 3, 2011, but I did not receive it until January 24, 2011. I only have 6 days to file a written appearance with the court. The information is on the website where the company filed the complaint and it lists that they tried to serve me once and now I have a alias summons. I thought that I had 30 days to file a response. Also the court fee for filing a response is close to $200. I never received any type of correspondence from this debt collector only a summons. I am in the process of answering the complaint now. On the summons it has my name, address, amount owed and the plaintiff's name and the name of the law firm, address, and phone number, the name of the attorney is not listed only a number. The collector trying to collect the debt is Palisades Collection. The have sent it to a 3rd party collector. I have sent them several validation of debt letters and received no response from Palisades. They brought the debt from Chase. Has anyone ever had problems with Palisades Collection?
