Civil summons for unpaid judgment

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Wed, 02/06/2013 - 14:24

My boyfriend received a civil summons regarding an unpaid judgment from 2003 (initially with Wachovia/Wells Fargo, but bought last year by a company here in NC). Can anyone give any insight on what can be expected from this? Is it possible for this to be settled for less than the judgment amount? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, my father received a 1099c for my mothers debt that was forgiven by the creditor after her passing. Is he responsible for paying this tax even though the card was soley in her name? He lives in mass. So he's not in one of the 10 exception states. Please help.

Medical Debt

First of all I want to say thanks to all the people in this community for all the information and such they have put into this website. I do have one question and I appolgize if this has been asked before. If I have collection accounts on my CR that was for medical and I only see the CA on my report not the OC being a hospital if I settle with the CA and also send them a pay for delete can that bad information be removed by the CA? I think they are the ones who put it on there so they would be the ones to take it off right? I may be way off base here but thought I would ask.

Two big problems: one big loan & a collection letter

Hey everyone!
Well I have two questions:
I got one big loan to pay off all my debts (mainly credit cards) however, the rate is ridiculous! It's a shameful 65% APR. The loan is about $7,500. The monthly payment is around $500 (well, less but it's an estimate) I could pay for it, but I've already calculated how much interest that would be and it's horrible.

Pay Day loan in NJ

I have 8 payday loans out and located in the state of NJ. I've been doing a lot of research on this site and others. It says that payday loans are illegal in the state of NJ. I am all about paying money that is owed, but wanted to know if someone new the details of the NJ laws especially the whole 30% max interest charge and what my options were. I was thinking of closing my account tomorrow and contacting all the pay day loan companies to work out a payment plan. Most of them have received their total amount originally borrowed through the biweekly bank debits.

Paying off charged off credit cards

I was foolish enough to listen to someone who advised me to stop paying my accounts and wait for a settlement offer. Well my credit got really messed up because of this (no big surprise!). My credit cards were charged off and sold to collection agencies. I was trying to rent an apartment and these credit card accounts put a big red flag on me (again, no big surprise). Any suggestions on how to go about for pay-for-delete settlements?

Card 1 $6778
Card 2 $688
Card 3 $3013
Card 4 $604

By the way, I'm in California, if that makes a difference at all.

Hello everyone! I received a summons a couple of days ago from CIR Law Offices for a debt acquired by Equable Ascent Financial. The summons says the Plaintiff, Equable Ascent Financial, alleges that I

"within the last four years, became indebted to "Plaintiff's Predecessor on an account assigned, transferred and/or sold to Plaintiff. Plaintiff's Predecessor will also be referred to as Plaintiff."

It's a very complicated situation. You should immediately consult with a financial counselor in this regard. I hope he/she will help you to sort out your problem.
