Car Repo.

Submitted by daisy101 on Fri, 03/05/2010 - 19:21

I am a newbie seeking some advice. I am newly married & my husband had a car repo before we were married & he has bad credit. His repo happened back in 2007 & he has not taken care of it since then. We had no one contact us about paying or anything. I checked his credit report and it says it was charged-off (which i know is bad) and the balance is around $8200, other than that we have no debt. We dont know what to do about this or who to contact. He is in the military & when we went to them for help they thought he was lying and trying to scam to get a car.

No 1099C received but charge off shows on credit report

Submitted by Pops on Fri, 03/05/2010 - 05:02

Stopped paying credit cards over a year ago. Collection Agency calls have subsided in the last few months. I have sent validation letters and of course no reply. I noticed "Charge-offs" on my credit report but have not seen a 1099c. Does this mean the credit card company is not through with me since it is still within the SOL for my state? What is the rule for reporting charge-off amounts if I have not received a 1099c? It is one thing to ruin my credit, and quite another to mess with the IRS.

Thanks for the help.

i just recently received some court papers saying that i need to show up in court on the 30th of march. i already have a wage garnishment against me back in spring of 2009 and missed court twice already. this will be the third time. by the way this is a credit card debt i owe. i quited my job due to relocation during the summer time so they couldn't garnish me all that time.

What can I do about my wages still being garnished after set

My wages were being garnished for several months, when the debt collector and I agreed to settle. I sent them a check for the amount of the settlement in full and received a letter saying I owed them nothing more. It's been two weeks and my wages are still being garnished. I called last week and inquired as to why the garnishment was still in affect. They told me they had sent the necesscary paper work to the sheriff's office and would send a check for the amount of money my paycheck was garnished. I have not received the check. My paycheck was also garnished this week.

i have a question? I'm in the military and incurred a debt back in 2005 that i havent paid on forever. The OC says 2006 and sold it to Pallisades who says date opened 2006. They are also running as a 30, 60, 90, and nnow over 120 late evey month. Are they allowed to do that or can they only reort collection account or charge off? Now the real question. I'm originally from Michigan but incurred the debt while being stationed in North Carolina. The SOL for NC is 3yrs for any debt and MI is 6yrs. What SOL would my debt and I fall under?

Hello all...hoping I can get some feedback on my situation. Basically, I've decided to stop paying my credit card bills...I just cant do it anymore. I'm about $14,000 in debt spread over approx. 10 accounts...the largest with Bank Of America at about $3,500.00. I've sent out certified letters to all the c.c. companys explaining my situation...stating that due to financial hardship I just cant make payments anymore. I'm am trying to have all my accounts closed and sent a final bill. I am asking them to omit further late, intrest and finances charges...I know that ain't gonna happen.

1099C received will i have to repay debt to collector? HELP,

Submitted by conciouschoice on Fri, 02/12/2010 - 19:23

Hello,

I have received a 1099C from my Debitor stating that the debt has been cancelled and I have to declare this to the IRS.

The collection agency is telling me that I still have to pay them the full amount even thought the original debitor gave me a 1099c cancellation of debt.

Can anyone please help me? thanks so much!!!
