LVNV purchased an old account from GE Money Bank in 2005. Should I send a debt validation letter to the the original creditor or to LVNV to validate the information on my credit report? From there do I go to the pay for deletion letter to the original creditor to remove both negative information from original creditor and LVNV?

Recently, I pulled my credit report to learn that my score, which was around 700, had dropped to 625. Reviewing the report, I found an account listed as a charge off from Chase and right under that, an account with LVNV Funding with a different delinquency date but the same account number. I have never had an account with Chase in my life, so I sent a dispute letter to the credit bureau, to Chase and to LVNV Funding by certified mail. Chase removed the item from my report, but LVNV is still there, and everytime I send a dispute letter to the credit bureau, they say "The creditor has validated this debt". However, NONE of the certified letters I send to LVNV are answered, even though they signed for the letters. In addition, after the negative from Chase was removed, my credit score dropped to 584!

The only negative I have on this report is the LVNV Funding account. All others are current, yet my credit score is still around 600. I cannot seem to get through to the credit bureaus that if this was a Chase collection account and Chase admits it is not ours, then LVNV must be removed...and that LVNV has ignored THREE DV letters, sent certified.

Any suggestions short of a lawsuit? I have filed numerous complaints with the FTC as well....oh...and Chase also attempted to use the IRS on this account as well with no luck...the IRS kicked them to the curb and we did not end up paying taxes on a "bad debt" that was not ours....I am just at a loss as to how to get rid of this one account htat appears to be dragging my credit score down almost 100 points!!!
