i got my tax return through a money now loan, through HSBC bank, and I got a phone call today saying that that the IRS isnt paying them back the loan amount and that I am responsible. I called H&R Block, and they let me know that my refund was put towards an 4 year old bank debt. that was $900.00, and now is $2400.00. Hsbc wont make an arrangement with me because I dont have 40% down, but said they would accept any payment monthly, but the calls will continue. Will the interest still acrue? Should I just say forgat it, and let them have my tax return next year, or just send them $25 a month? Can they take action against me if I'm paying them something? I cant afford any more bills, I'm a single Mom with rent, car payment, utilities, gas, food, youknow, stuff to live on..why didnt they let me know before I got the check? i'm worried they'll garnish my wages.

You have to be very careful when dealing with HSBC. They will sue, no questions asked. I was sued by them last year and I was in a debt consolidation program and had a copy of the signed proposal. They will lie to get what they want. This is the wasy H&R Block and HSBC operate.
You walked into it
1: Refund anticipation loans are a total scam. Like the lottery, they are a stealth tax on people who are bad at math (aka you, ckygirl).
99 times out of a hundred, ordinary people should NOT take out a loan other than for a car or a house, and the definition of loan includes running a credit card balance. Find a way to cut spending instead. No more cable TV. Learn to cook. etc, etc, etc.
2: So... you borrowed $900 from a bank and "forgot" to pay it back?
3: Single mom blah blah blah. Go sue the baby daddy for child support and stop whining. I feel sorry for your kids, but not for you.

I received a RAL this year....not a HUGE amount, though. It 'worked' for me ( it may not 'work' for everyone). I paid it back when I did my taxes and got a refund. Not a problem..with me, anyway.
Time to trim the shrubs
Yes Shrubbery, and if you started crossing a street and didn't notice a bus driven by a homicidal maniac barreling down on you but I did, I wouldn't bother telling you because it's your own damn fault for crossing the street in the first place. So if your not good with money you are a piece of shit? Since when is money God? Last time I checked money was a man-made creation, not a law of nature. Do you charge people to love them as well? What's your current rate in this market? I can't stand you awful selfish non-compassionate people. You truly hate your fellow man but would never admit it. You just hide behind rules and regulations, but people will see through it eventually.
Shame on you Shrubbery
I suppose you have a silver spoon sticking out of your butt, and there is no shame being a single mom. We all have our crosses to bear, and if you truly feel that way, then you shouldn't be here. We all need help now and then, and compassion is part of life. If you don't have love and compassion, then your dead already. You probably work for a collection agency and got dumped by your man, because no decent one would want someone like you. Shame on you.

Honey ask them to make arrangements by certified mail. You set the pace by offering what you can and send it certified. Never talk to these people on the phone, they trip u up and then say that you did it. Don't send any money with the arrangement, let them agree to it first in writing and make sure it a payment for delete. Also send payments by money order. Never give them your acct. numbers. Read on this is a wonderful site, and these people know there stuff. Good Luck!
Great advice ruthie, and make sure you keep copies of all your correspondence with them, you may need it later.
scam scam scam
I am currently trying to buy a house but thanks to hsbc and h and r block my credit rating has went below the the amount it needs to b!my husband and i have used this company for years and got screwed out of 2500 dollors. I recommened using turbo tax we have had no issues with them. It's quick and easy and no one takes your hard earned money!!!@!!!!!!!
I would not myself reccomend any tax anticipation loan. The fees are outrageous and you usually only get the lowest amount possible. Turbo tax is a great site and I know many whom have done their taxes there. I personally go to my tax guy. He is a preacher that got into the business on the side and only charges $45 and that is to e file and everything. It saves from making mistakes since I do not know all the tax rules and ways to get money back. Your refund is submitted into your choice of checking or savings and you can even split between the two.
