When I checked my credit report two months back, an out of state collection agency was listed on my credit report. I send them a debt validation letter. However, rather than answering to my validation, they are just reporting the negative item on my credit report. So if i end up having to sue them how would i go about suing them if they are out of the state?

Hi Candida,

You can try a second validation with the collection company. You will be able to get a sample debt validation letter at http://www.creditmagic.org/repair/sampleletter-debtvalidation.html . You can then modify the text of the letter according to your own circumstances.

If they still do not validate your debt and go on harassing you, you can report this to the State Attorney General and to the Federal Trading Commission.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron
