I want to improve my credit score and I want to do it myself because it's not possible for me to give money to credit counseling companies. Thus, I want to do it as economically as possible. Where is the best place to get a free credit report. I have a bankruptcy from 5 years ago and I am sure there are some inaccuracies as well.
Thanks in advance
Improving credit score
Hi Karess,
For improving your credit score you need not join any credit counseling company. You can try self improving your score. To do that you first need to pull a copy of your credit report. Check that minutely for any wrong listings, and negative listings.
Try disputing the wrong listings if there are any. Send dispute letters to the credit bureaus for removing any wrong listings from your report. If there are any such debts that you think has been wrongly listed, first send debt validation letters to the company or collection agency reporting this. If the debt has not been incurred by you, they won't be able to validate your debt properly. You can then dispute this item with the credit bureaus.
If there are any negative listings like delinquencies, try becoming current on those accounts. This will help you in improving your score.
Thanks,
Aaron

credit
'Working' on your own credit may take some time. However......that way, you're not payiong someone else to look at your CR and you can try to improve it on YOUR 'schedule'..not someone else's.
To improve your credit score you can ensure that you know what type of credit you have, keep outstanding debts as low as you can, restrict credit applications, overdue bills are never ignored, avoid extending your credit, pay loans on time and keep in mind that credit is not built in a single day. Credit is very important and you should not overlook these facts. Now that you understand the relevance of credit, it is time you checked your credit report and score.
