Public Record /Paid Civil Claim

In Jun 08 my contractor sued me for non -payment and I was counter suing him for work not completed. We both filed in small claims and both stated our cases. He won for $1000.00 I paid it in full in August 2008 (less than 2 months later).

Why does this show up on my reports? He won, I paid - period!

And how much effect is this having on my scores? Otherwise I look pretty good other than my damn HELOC (37% used) showing as revolving credit on 2 reports. And CitiBank not publishing my credit limit of $14K. making me look over using my credit lines.

Thanks for any infor you can give me!

Hi RSFFlowers,

Welcome to this community :)

Is this account showing "Judgment satisfied"? If it is, then there is nothing else that you can do. However, if it's still not showing the paid status, you will have to dispute this with the bureaus. A judgment generally stays on your credit report for 7-10 years.

If it's showing paid status then this won't have much of a negative effect now on your credit.

Thanks,

Aaron
