Student loans

Hi,

My problem is four different companies are reporting a student loan for me. I was in school for only a year and a half so I know there isn't much debt. They started out with the school and are showing paid. I had consolidated with Sallie Mae. One loan is showing paid, the other is showing a CO/debt transferred. However, two other companies are showing up for roughly the same amount. I can't get the papers to match up at all and I am not talking about months differences but like a year or so.

Should I just go ahead and dispute them all with the CRA first and then see where to go from there? I just have no idea if these are really mine or not...

Hi Lane,

Before trying to dispute with the credit bureaus, you can try validating the debts with the collection agencies. Send the letters through certified mail, requesting a return receipt.

After you get back the return receipts send the dispute letters to the credit bureaus. This is known a s 1-2 punch.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Aaron
