Mortgage listed as another installment

Hi,

My credit recently took a hit because we moved. I had informed my creditors of the change in address. However,we didn't get a bill in the mail for a couple months. I didn't track that card online so when they called to tell me i was 30 days past due i was surprised. Is that something i can fight because they didn't send me a bill?

Also, when i pulled my credit report it shows that i have no mortgage payment. Instead my mortgage payment is listed under "other installments". Will this have a big negative impact on my credit score since it looks like i have a huge balance on an installment account?

Any input is much appreciated.

Hi Calvex,

Is that something i can fight because they didn't send me a bill?

Even if you changed your address, and did not receive the monthly bills, it is considered to be your responsibility to pay your monthly bills. So, you can't fight against they reporting the negatives against your account.

Mortgages are generally reported as installments. So, I don't think the listing under "other installments" is going to hurt your credit in any way. However, you can make the payments, and become current on this account, and request the lender to remove the negative listings. Get the agreements in writing.

Thanks,

Aaron
