Bank of America can not provide correct documentation. I had a Clout Visa card that later went out of business, next thing I know bank of america charged of my account. It is with a third party collect, Midland Credit. So I really do not know should I dispute this with The credit bureau or something else.

Hi mayday,

Welcome to this community :)

You have mentioned

As you owe this debt, the question of dispute does not arise. You can rather try to remove the charge off only if you pay off the debt.

You need to request the original creditor (Bank of America) to pull back the account from the collection agency. If the creditor agrees to pull back the account, get a written payment agreement. Then request the creditor to agree to a "Pay for delete" (PFD) agreement. With the PFD, the negative will be removed from your credit report.

Thanks,

Aaron
