when you do debt validation, and the collection agency reports is as a dispute in your credit report, how long does it show up in the credit report? if the collection agency never gets back to you, does the dispute never go away from your credit report?
According to FCR Act Section 605 dispute will show for maximum seven years on your credit report.
Even the collection agency won't come after you for payment it will show for 7 yrs.

How does doing a dispute hurt your score? I heard that your score drops during a dispute...how is this so and what are the long term damages?

On long term basis it cost a toll on your credit.one can surely track one's credit report from time to time during this dispute period.

Seriously?? I never knew' Disputes' actually stay on your CR's. For 7 years? WOW!! It's almost like you're hurting your credit, when you're really trying to clean it up.
credit report
Hey I too had no knowledge about this. I googled but was unable to find any information on this.

When I 'disputed' items, and waited for an update from the CB's, I never saw, on my CR, that I made ANY kind of 'disputes'. Hmm......are the 'disputes' added on at a later time?
credit collection agency
If I paid off the collection agency immediately when I got the notice..will it still appear on my credit report? I went to annualcreditreport.com and got my report. Neither of the two collection notices i got were there. Could it take some time since I have paid them this month? Or, if the amount was small would that be the reason?
