ABCD INC is the OC on that. I don't see CA name listed on any report. Only Transunion is reporting an additonal piece of information, a phone number and that belongs to Vengroff, Williams & Associates, Inc. (possible CA on this).
Can some one please advice:
* DV goes to OC or CA?? (No CA is listed just phone number)
* Do I need to wait to get validation reponse from CA/OC or I can send dispute to CRAs?
debt validation
Hi fantoos,
You can find out if it's a collection agency by calling up using the phone number. As for the debt validation letter, you can send that to the collection agency. Validation works only with the CA, and not the OC.
If you send the debt validation letters through certified mail, requesting a return receipt, you can immediately send dispute letters to credit bureaus only after receiving the return receipts.
Thanks,
Aaron
dv letters?
can DV letters be sent to credit bureaus? i am trying to get paid medical bills removed from my accound and I was wondering if I could send dispute letters to bureaus..
fantaloos, what state do you live in? are you looking at a paper copy of your report? I think we have discussed this case before.
Please send ABCD a DV letter immediately by CMRRR. Specifically ask for records of last activity on this account by any alleged debtor.
File a complaint with the AG of your state. Report that ABCD is reporting fraudulent records to the Credit Bureaus.
vsf, a DV letter is sent to a collection agency within 30 days if first contact. it would not apply to your situation

Hi vfsalinas,
Debt validation letters are sent only to the collection agencies. When you are unsure about a debt, you can send debt validation letters. If the collection agency fails to validate the debt, they are supposed to stop the collection process.
Thanks,
Aaron
I am going to do my first helping post :D
OK, listen to cinnamngrl and aaron, they both are very knowledgeable.
If I may add something though, once you send the DV letter they are required to respond proving the debt and in the mean time they can not report or attempt to collect, keep an eye on this for it is a violation to the FDCPA. Also, the state is important for a few reasons (from what I have learned), different states have different laws, for example, my state, Texas, has a law that REQUIRES validation in 30 days or the debt is invalid and frivolous. Other states may not have this law, federal law does not require validation in a specific time. Be sure to report to your Attorney General as well. The other thing that is good about validation is, if they are trying to collect a debt from 1997 (and just changing some numbers to make it seem as if it is from 2007) than the SOL may have expired and it is a zombie debt and is illegal to collect.
Did I get that right Aaron and Cinnamngrl? lol
thank you boxie
So collecting zombie debt is not illegal. but the way this is being reported is illegal.
ah i c, I will have to do some more research on zombie debt than :)
dv letters
I am trying to get old medical bills that were paid off but went to collections..I live in NM some say charge off paid...
write a letter of dispute directly to the collection agency listed on your credit report.
Thank you for all the help. I'm sending the DV letter to CA and will keep you posted.
Thanks everyone
good luck
Good luck on your letters...I have yet to send mine in..I am looking at goodwill letters to get my old collection bills removed from my credit report....Happy 4th..
Sorry Cinnamngrl, I missed your previous post, here are the answers to your questions;
I'm looking at the paper report.
I live in Texas now but lived in California before OC was from California and by seraching the phone number(only piece of info about CA on my credit report) CA is also from California.
Today I received my CA dv letter's return receipt, can I send dispute to CRAs now or wait 30 days to see if I get response from CA??
The Dispute to CRA has to be CMRRR or just certified??
Also if I need to file a complaint to AG about reporting fraudulent record, that would be Texas(my current state) or California (OC and CA state)??

Yes, you can send the dispute letters CMRRR.
Also if I need to file a complaint to AG about reporting fraudulent record, that would be Texas(my current state) or California (OC and CA state)??
You will have to file complaint with the Attorney General (AG) of the state where the debt was incurred.
Thanks,
Aaron
