Hi,
My goal is to get my credit to the point where I can get approved for a car loan through one of the military lending institutions (like Navy Federal or USAA), although I'd be happy to consider other lending institutions if someone knows of one that works with the credit challenged.
Other than remaining prompt with bill payments, I'm looking for advice or techniques on repairing a bad credit history. While I don't have anything serious like a judgment or a bankruptcy against my name, I do have a series of late payments on my personal loan through Navy Federal, and one or two lates on the cards.
I'm very excited to get any and all input from those who have it to offer, and I want to thank everyone in advance for the help.

Hi Zander,
You can try self credit repair to build good credit history. Can I know if you are now rrent on the accounts with the negatives? If you are not, try to become current on these by making the payments.
However, you for credit repair, that is to remove the negatives, you will have to request the creditor/lender or collection agency to agree to a "Pay for delete" (PFD) agreement. With the PFD, all the negatives from your account will get removed. This will help in improving your credit.
Thanks,
Aaron

hey, OP, what state are you in? Just wondering,..because there is a Credit Union that deals with MOSTLY Vets and gives you really good rates. They also give you a 'break' (lack of a better word) even if your credit is somewhat ok.

...OMG!! I must have missed it when you poted USAA. I have a checking and savings account, through them. I have to say ( I think, anyway ), they look at people a 'special' way (for being Vets). I think their great to work with.

Hi,
Thanks for your answers. Aaron, I am currently making payments on the accounts on which I had went delinquent. I also have got written agreements from the creditors, and collection agencies, so that the negatives may get removed.
sdcharges, how do USAA work with the customers?
Thanks again for taking time to answer my questions :)
You can try self credit repair to build good credit history. The fact that you do not have a legal case or a bankruptcy against you is an added advantage. Get into an agreement with a creditor/lender, credit union or collection agency for credit repair. With all the negatives from your account removed, you will end up with an improved credit.

ZANDER.......they are wonderful!! Every question I have, they've answered right away and very clear (so even I could understand it!!..LOL). Lot's of discounts, on rates 9car loans, etc) for Vets. I would give them a try. You can 'search', for their number, VIA Internet. they are very 'simple' to work with. Hope this info helps.
