Late Payment Error

Hello, I am a graduate school student and my student loans are on deferment during my studies. I recently pulled my credit report and found that the student loan company (Nelnet) has reported my loans as late on a couple occasions. I contact the loan company for correction and received a letter stating that the late payments are valid. How can I fix this error considering that my loans are now and have always been since undergrad school on deferment? Evelyn

Can I know if you have any written agreement on this deferment? If you have, you can use that to solve this problem. Send a copy of the deferment agreement to them, and request them to update your account status. Send this letter to Nelnet through certified mail, requesting a return receipt (CMRRR).

Also file a dispute with the credit bureaus. Along with the dispute letter attach a copy of the deferment agreement. Send the letter CMRRR.
