Hi,

I recently got hold of all 3 credit reports, and have found on there 3 medical bills that date back to 1995 , i was informed by a credit company to leave them alone as these cannot be used against me in an application for a mortgage it is against the law,but it already has been used this way and the mortgage company told me to pay them off and then they will deal with me i do not have any lines of credit never had a credit card/store card etc and don't want to go there, but this is fine with the mortgage company they are just concerned about the medical collections who is right?

Hi Stacey,

These are old collections, and are not supposed to be there on your report for so many years if the date of last activity has not been changed. So, can you tell when was the last payment made on these accounts, and when were the negatives entered? The negatives are supposed to fall off after 7 years from the date of entry on the credit report. Thus, you can dispute these items.

Send dispute letters to the credit bureaus, through certified mail.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for your reply. The last payment was made in 2000. The negatives were last entered in 2001. So, as the 7 years are up, can I dispute these items off my report?
