OK,

Here's my situation. I want to get a credit card, and start building credit, simple right? no, i applied for a credit card and they said no because you have no established credit history  So i applied for a line of credit at my bank, declined for the same reason :!: :!: So i tried best buy store and same story, but wait am i missing something?.. How Do You Get A Credit History If You Can't Ge A CREDIT CARD OR FINANCE ANYTHING, how do people with good credit, get credit to begin with. I've been trying for about 3 months with multiple declines for the same exact reason no credit history. so they tell me i have to start off with a secure credit card. but why should i be treated like a person with bad credit when i haven't even had the chance, not fair right.

any tips on getting a credit card for me?

Hi Marlow,

Yes, it is true that people with no credit face problem in getting approved for new credit. However, if you have any savings account with any bank, you can request them for a credit card. If this does not work, you can get a secured credit card.

Getting a secured credit card is the best, and safest way to build credit. It works more like a debit card, where you will have to pay the money before you can actually use the card. Before you can get a secured card, check if the card company reports to all the three credit bureaus.

After you get the card, make small purchases that you can afford, using the card. After that you need to make on time payments on the card. This is going to help you build a good credit score. After some time, the creditor will change it into an unsecured credit card if you request.

Other than this, you can try to get a new credit card, by getting somebody else with good credit to cosign for you. This can work.

Thanks,

Aaron
