I have a judgement thats about a year old. I had settled 'out of court' with the collection agency and i thought this make the whole court thing go away. but on my credit report its listed as a satisfied judgement.

can i contact the colletion agency and ask them to vacate this since i had originally wanted to settle out of court and did so without being told to by the court? or am i just stuck with thison my report for a few years?

Hi jackie,

Judgments satisfied or unsatisfied will remain on your credit report for 7 years. However, you can still try to remove it through the verification dispute method. If the credit bureaus can't verify the account, after you have filed a dispute, they will have to remove it. If there is any change in address, or name, then you may be able to dispute the judgment account with the credit bureaus.

Thanks,

Aaron
