Question about my credit score

Hi,

So I've got my score up from 580 to 695 over the last 12 months. However, I went into buy a car and the dealer told me my high score was only 613 :!::!::!:

But the report I get from Experian says 695...what is the deal? Both reports come from Experian and I actually saw the report at the dealership, so they weren't lying.

Hi Amanda,

Can you tell from where did you get the score? Did you get the score either form www.annualcreditreport.com or myfico? These are the only companies that offer you authentic FICO scores.

All other are FAKO scores. FAKO scores are not the authentic ones. You should try to get hold of the authentic credit score, and credit report. Get one from Annual Credit Report.

Moreover as you were denied the car, you may get a free credit report too. Thus, get a copy of your credit report and try to repair your credit. Check what negatives items are there on your report? Start making payments on the delinquent accounts. request the creditor to remove negative items. Send them "Pay for delete letters" as requests for the removal.

If there are any wrong listings, try to dispute those with the credit bureaus. Other than these get a secured credit card to improve your score. Use this card to make small purchases, and then make on time payments on this card.

Thanks,

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

I got the credit score neither from annualcredit report nor from myfico. I got it from a company offering free scores. So, what should I do now?

Hi,

Get a copy of all the three scores from myfico. Moreover, as you were denied the car, you will be able to get free credit report from Annual Credit Report. So, get a copy of the credit report too, and then start repairing your credit.

Thanks,

Aaron
