Hi all,
This is a great site :)
Coming to the question, my wife had 2 default judgments issued against her. One 2 years ago, and the other just a year ago. These were by the same credit union. The credit union and judgments are in Virginia, and she lives in California now. She was living in California when they were filed. We are not afraid of wage garnishment as we are self employed, and not really worried about that part. What worries us is bank account seizure. Is there a way that they can find out where we have our bank accounts? We want to open a savings account, but don't want to wake up one morning and it be frozen.
default judgments
Hi Landon,
They can try to find out where your bank accounts are. You should avoid giving out information on your bank accounts to anyone. However, as you seem to have the money to pay off the dues, you can negotiate a payment plan with the creditors, and start the payments on these accounts. Only if you pay off the dues, will you be able to stop the garnishment.
Thanks,
Aaron
