Is there anyway to negociate a past due bill to current if it is very late and in collections. If so does anyone have any sample letters?

Hi agarza,

Yes, you can negotiate with your creditor or collection agency to change the dates on your account. This is known as debt reaging. It is when the creditor sets the past due date back to current. However, a creditor can consider your account for reaging only if your account is 9 months old, or more than that. Moreover you will have to have to show your willingness to pay, and you will have to make 3 consecutive monthly payments (can be the minimum payment).

However, you should also know that if an account gets reaged without your knowledge or consent, it is considered to be illegal.

Thanks,

Aaron
