How to remove judgment

My husband has a judgment on only his TransUnion report. We have no idea what it is. It has been there for about 6 years. In that time we have tried with different mortgage agencies, credit card companies to find out what this is. However, we have never been successful. We were even willing to pay it to get rid of it!!! The company has no information on it and has no idea why it is listed.

OK, so now how do we get this removed from his record? Do we go through the courts? If so can anyone direct me in the right direction?

Hi Grace,

Can you tell whether or not you have ever tried to know if this debt is valid? If you have not, you can try that now. Visit the court which issued the judgment against you. Request the court clerk to provide you with the details of this lawsuit. From the details you will come to know how this came to be there on your credit report. If you think that the debt is not valid, use the court documentation to dispute this judgment.

A judgment can stay on your credit report for 7 years. So if you think that you don't owe this debt to anyone you can leave it as such, as it is going to fall off in a year. Another most important thing that you can try considering is whether or not you were ever served with any court papers before the judgment was entered against you. If you weren't served with any notice, you can file a motion to vacate this judgment.

Thanks,

Aaron
