Few creditors and collection agencies are listed on my credit report, but there is no clue on how can I contact them. Now I must contact them b/c few of them have posted wrong debt amount. Any advice?

Welcome to the forum. A good way to find the contact information abt a creditor or a collection agency is to search the www by their name in the various search engines. You may also opt to post their name. You might get some valuable info from our community members!

Apart from what Carol has said, you can try some other avenues:

  • If you know the original creditors, contact them and inquire how to contact those collection agencies.
  • Search the website of Better Business Bureau; they maintain an authentic database of businesses across the country.
  • If any option is of no avail, ask bureau to remove the item/items since it cannot be verified.

Good luck :D

Hi TC,

You can try negotiating a debt settlement with your creditors. With debt settlement the outstanding debt balance lowers at least by 40-60%.

When you are knee deep in debt, and have already missed payments, you can go for debt settlement. Debt settlement allows you to pay only a portion of your debt. Thus, it becomes much easier to pay off your debts.

Thanks,

Aaron
