My wife and I are trying to improve her credit score. She has 5 medical bills in collection from a few years ago. She also has 4 credit cards that are fairly close to their limits. Will it be better to pay off the credit cards first? Or should we try to take care of collection accounts?
We're trying to buy a house soon, and this old stuff on her credit report is what's stopping us. So please help us.
Thanks
Don't let the active cards default. I would however try to deal with the medical bills if you can.
google Hippa collections credit boards
medical collections are a special area.
Which to pay off first
Hi Richard,
It would have been better, if you could balance both the payments at the same time. However, if you can't seem to balance payments on both credit cards, and medical collections, you can try to pay off the collection accounts first. Collection accounts are those on which you have been delinquent upon. Thus, it is better to pay off the collections first.
However, you people should also try to maintain the cards so that they don't go over the limit, and try not to default on these active credit accounts.
Thanks,
Aaron
