I sent several CA a certified debt validation letter 30 days ago and have heard nothing back. What are the steps I take now? My understanding is that if they don't respond, I can have the lines removed from my credit report, is this correct? Do I send the three agencies a letter saying I contacted the CA and no response so please remove? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
no validation response
Hi newsnerd,
There is no such rule under Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) which states that the collection agency will have to send an answer to your debt validation within 30 days. Rather the debtor is required to send a debt validation letter within 30 days of the first collection attempt.
Wait for some more days, and then send another debt validation letter mentioning about the first. If they fail to answer this time, you can dispute the item with the credit bureaus.
Thanks,
Aaron
