Can we contact the original creditor

We received a letter from a law firm saying that our original creditor have sold our account them. We were paying the original creditor monthly but the account was 90 days past due. Anyway, we owe $1500.

My question is can we still contact our original creditor, and negotiate a settlement, and send a cease and desist letter to the law firm? Or do we now have to deal only with the collection agency. Is the creditor supposed to sold off an account on which we had been only 90 days late?

Thanks

Hi Marian,

The account has been sold off to the collection agency. Thus, there's no point contacting the creditor. Now, you will have to deal with the collection agency.

Thanks,

Aaron
