I have just received notification that I have a judgement against me from a credit card company. I live in Texas and I would like to find out what recourse I have and what they can do to me.
Thanks, Don

judgment for credit card debt
Hi donclark,
Can you give the details on the debt? Pull a copy of your credit report, and check whether or not the judgment is listed there. You need to pay off the judgment amount. However, if the debt amount is too huge for you to pay, you can request for a debt settlement.
Debt settlement will lower the outstanding debt amount by 40-60%. Judgments once entered will stay in effect for 10 years, and in Texas judgment can be renewed. So it's better to pay off the judgment.
While making the agreement with the creditor to pay the judgment, request him to update your account as "Paid judgment".
Thanks,
Aaron
