CA response to PFD

Ask credit questions ...There is a collection listed on my credit reports by a CA for an account that I know I owe (doctor's bill). Although I knew the acct. was aging (since 01/09) I did not know that it had gone this far because I had not received any previous notification from the CA - only bills from the doctor's office.

I sent a PFD to the CA for payment in full by CMRR. Their response was a letter to dispute validity of debt within 30 days or assumed validity will happen. It also states that I can make payments payable to them or to the OC.

Is it possible that the OC still owns the debt and I should try to communicate the PFD to her? What should I do next?

You started with a PFD which was a mistake. Have you seen this on your credit report? if it isn't on your credit report then there is nothing to delete.

Send a dv letter to the CA. then go to annual credit report dot com and get a copy of your credit report.

If it is not there then you can pay this and it will never go on your credit report.

But DV immediately!!!

This item is already on my credit report that is why I sent a PFD.

I will send the DV to the CA but does it seem like the debt is still owned by the OC? Should I send a PFD to the OC after the validation has been made assuming that it will.

Thanks

Hi realme,

Cinnamngrl is right. You should have first send a debt validation letter to the collection agency. However, the debt can still be owned by the original creditor. Maybe the collection agency is a part of the credit car company.

You can talk to your original creditor regarding the payment, and the "Pay for delete" (PFD) agreement. However, before that, request the creditor to pull back the account form the collection agency. Get the agreements in writing. These done, you can start making the payments to the original creditor, and send the PFD letter to them.

Thanks,

Aaron
