Is spouse responsible for credit card debt?

My credit cards are in my name only. My husband and I are residents
of TN and are not living together, but not legally separated. I am on
disability due to a chronic medical problem and in poor health. In
case of my death, would my husband be responsible for my credit
card debt? Thanks!

Hi ingridffrancis,

Tennessee is not a community property state. Thus, your husband won't be held liable for the debts incurred by you. These cards are in your name, and are not joint accounts, so your won't be held responsible for your debts.
