Removing SOLD accounts

If a company shows the account as sold on my CR, can I get it removed? If so, how? THANKS!

Items are removed from your credit report for being inaccurate and more importantly unverifiable. So, in a vacuum, no it won't get removed for just being sold, but!

If they sold it, then it is less likely that they will keep records on hand so it will give you a chance to dispute it and remove the item by either disputing with the CRA or directly with the credit line furnisher.

Hi Devon,

Welcome to this community :)

You can try validating this debt with the collection agency under whom this item is listed. If they fail to validate the debt, then you can dispute this item either with the collection agency through 623 dispute, or with the credit bureaus.

You will get a sample debt validation letter with this community, which you can use to write one of your own.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron
